Document details

Regulation
Work Health and Safety Regulation 2025 (NSW) — the asbestos provisions, confined spaces (Part 4.3) and the duty to manage the risk of falls (Part 4.4), with High Risk Construction Work (s291; SWMS s299) where the survey involves confined spaces or work at height
HRCW Category
The intrusive pre-demolition hazardous materials survey is carried out ahead of demolition and can be high risk construction work where it involves entry to a confined space (ceiling and roof voids, plant rooms) or a risk of a person falling more than 2 m (s291); a SWMS is required (s299) in those cases. The survey deliberately disturbs suspected materials to sample them, so asbestos and other hazardous-material exposure is a core hazard, controlled at the source.
Hazards Identified
14 hazards with controls
