Diving & Marine Operations SWMS

Commercial diving in Australian waters is governed by the AS/NZS 2299 series — the most comprehensive diving safety standard in the Southern Hemisphere — and AMSA Maritime Orders where vessel operations are involved. Diving is explicitly listed under WHS Regulation Reg 291 High Risk Construction Work (Cat. 6: work in or near confined spaces, which extends to hyperbaric environments). State regulators enforce the WHS Regulation for diving on construction and maintenance projects; AMSA holds concurrent jurisdiction over diving from commercial vessels.
